Laboratory quality metrics
Mehiläinen laboratories offer comprehensive laboratory services as well as various patient-specific examinations. Samples taken in the laboratories are primarily examined in Mehiläinen's own central laboratory.
Success in external quality assessment rounds
The bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes causes angina and can be tested with a rapid test in almost every Mehiläinen location. The metric describes the success of Mehiläinen's laboratories and the test performance in quality assessment rounds organized by an independent operator, where the correct result is communicated to the participant only afterwards. Rounds are organized four times a year. The figure in the first column describes the success of all Mehiläinen laboratories (76 units) as a percentage, and the second column shows the results of other Finnish operators (approx. 550 units). The third column shows the difference.
Waiting time for sample collection in laboratory services
The proportion (%) of customers who waited more than 30 minutes for sample collection, i.e., how large a proportion of walk-in customers had to wait more than half an hour to get their sample taken. The percentage figure indicated in the metric is the average for all laboratory services.
