Renewing a prescription at Mehiläinen is easy and quick. Physicians always use their discretion when renewing prescriptions and may request a follow-up visit or additional tests before renewal. For example, prescriptions for CNS medications (primarily those affecting the central nervous system) are generally not renewed without a physician's appointment.
You can conveniently renew your prescription issued by Mehiläinen through the OmaMehiläinen app or online service.
Prescriptions written at public health centers or elsewhere can be renewed at the Digital Clinic. You can find the Digital Clinic's remote physicians in OmaMehiläinen
After logging in, you will see all prescriptions issued to you at Mehiläinen. Select all prescriptions you wish to renew at once to ensure they are directed to the same physician and billed correctly.
There must always be a medical reason for renewing a prescription. Briefly describe the condition for which the medication was originally prescribed and your current health status. If the physician requires additional information, they may convert the renewal request into a discussion on the Digital Clinic, so please monitor your messages after submitting the request.
If you are renewing a prescription written at a public health center or elsewhere, start a discussion on the Digital Clinic. The physician at the Digital Clinic will ask you clarifying questions and reasons for the renewal.
A general practitioner’s Digital Clinic visit fee will be charged for the discussion. If the physician cannot renew the prescription remotely for any reason, they will guide you to a traditional appointment or your attending physician. In such cases, no fee will be charged for the Digital Clinic visit.
The cost of renewing a prescription is charged to the payment card added to OmaMehiläinen. For occupational health customers, the renewal fee is billed directly to the employer.
Our physicians renew prescriptions within 24 hours. You will receive a notification via SMS or through OmaMehiläinen once the prescription has been renewed.
The prescription is electronic, and you can collect the medication from any pharmacy.
You can also renew your prescription by calling Mehiläinen’s customer service at 010 414 00 (local network rate/mobile charge) (local/mobile network rate) and requesting a callback for prescription renewal. Our customer service is available 24/7.
You can schedule the callback for your preferred day. Our specialist will call you between 8 AM and 8 PM on the selected day. The call will come from an unknown number.
The physician may charge a fee for the prescription renewal based on their set rate. The renewal fee can be paid by requesting an invoice to be sent to your home or by adding the fee to the medication cost at the pharmacy.

An electronic prescription, or e-prescription, is a medication order that a physician prepares and signs electronically. All prescriptions are stored in the Prescription Centre, where pharmacies can access them when dispensing medication. The Prescription Centre is maintained by Kela. You can view your prescription information in the MyKanta service or prescriptions issued by Mehiläinen in OmaMehiläinen.
Typically, prescriptions are renewed during an appointment, such as an annual check-up. At Mehiläinen, prescriptions can also be renewed via the OmaMehiläinen app, online service, or by leaving a callback request.

Renewing an expired prescription always requires a new physician’s evaluation. A prescription can be renewed up to 4 months after its expiration.

You can renew a prescription online using the OmaMehiläinen online service. Log in to the OmaMehiläinen online service with your online banking credentials or mobile certificate. Select one or more prescriptions issued by Mehiläinen for renewal and approve the payment. Our physicians renew prescriptions within 24 hours.
