What is treated with dental laminates?

Dental and oral health Digital ClinicFor whom are dental laminates suitable?
Dental laminates are suitable for practically all adults. In order to perform the treatment, your mouth should be in healthy condition. Before dental laminates are prepared, a good treatment balance of oral diseases should be achieved. In particular, any gum diseases should be carefully treated and the gums must be healed.
Possible treatment of periodontitis should be in balance during treatment with dental laminates. There should be no inflammation or swelling of the gum area. If the gum is swollen, the seam of the laminate may become detectable as the gum heals. The dentist will examine your mouth’s condition comprehensively and identify potential predisposing risk factors.

Dental laminate manufacturing and waxing
If the purpose of the dental laminate is above all cosmetic, laminates made of temporary material are often used at the design stage.
The purpose of the temporary laminates is to ensure the proper physiological functioning of the teeth and that the appearance of the teeth is as desired. Temporary structures can be easily modified. Waxing does not cause permanent changes to your teeth and the wax can be removed, if necessary, without leaving marks on your teeth. If the waxing seems to work, the laminates are prepared according to the waxing.
When laminates are prepared, the aim is to minimise the loss of your own healthy dental tissue. All carious dental tissue and old fillings are removed from the tooth under the laminate. The laminate is attached to the tooth with plastic cement. After attaching, the dentist will make sure that the laminates work correctly and that their appearance is good.
In most cases, a protective rail is recommended to protect large-scale fixed prosthodontics in case of structural breakage, as repairing ceramic structures is laborious.
How long does the dental laminate last?
If maintained well, dental laminates can last for decades. Follow-up studies show that properly prepared and cemented lithium disilicate-based structures have a probability of survival of approximately 90% over 10 years.
Over time, the gum typically retracts, which may expose the seam of the laminate. Plastic cement that resembles your own tooth the best is always used. A skilfully made seam may not be visible even if the gumline is exposed over the years.
The durability of a dental laminate is essentially affected by good oral hygiene and careful dental care. You should use an electric toothbrush to clean your teeth and the interdental spaces should also be cleaned carefully.
Price of dental laminates
There is no fixed price for dental laminate treatment. A dentist specialised in laminates always makes the decision concerning the treatment on the basis of the personal examination and careful plan and provides a cost estimate for the entire treatment, if possible. Frequently asked questions
Dental veneers usually last for 10–15 years, but with the right care, they can last up to 20 years or longer.
Veneers are well suited for correcting, for example, tooth discolouration, shape and wear, but they are not recommended in the treatment of, for example, severe malocclusion.
Dental laminates are cared for just like your own teeth, including regular brushing, flossing and use of mouthwash. In addition, it is important to avoid hard or tough foods that may damage the veneers.
