Erityisesti lausuntoasiat vaativat tarkan perehtymisen potilashistoriaan, joten varmistathan ennen käyntiä, että Omakannassa ei ole tietojen luovutuskieltoja. Varaathan toimenpideajan ajanvarauksen kautta, jotta käynnille tiedetään varata tarvittava henkilökunta ja välineet sekä toimenpidehuone. Tavallisella vastaanotolla arvioidaan, onko toimenpidettä tarpeen tehdä. Toimenpiteisiin varattava aika riippuu toimenpiteen laajuudesta. Esimerkiksi yhden luomen poisto tai koepalan otto onnistuvat hyvin 40 minuutin ajalla.
