Sexually transmitted diseases (STD)

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are transmitted through sexual intercourse. STDs, which are caused by bacteria are chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrea. The most common virus spread diseases are genetal herpes and genital warts, which is caused by papillomavirus while less common are hepatitis and HVI.

- STDs should always be treated early on. Bacteria caused diseases can be treated with antibiotics. Diseases caused by viruses can also be treated, tells Maarit Vaalamo, a dermatologist and a STD specialist from Mehiläinen.
