Digital Clinic is open 24/7, including weekends and public holidays. Remote Digital Clinic appointments with doctors are available every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and our nurses can assess your need for treatment at night from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The services of Digital Clinic are available without booking an appointment. Remote Digital Clinic appointments with doctors are available every day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. You will be contacted by the first available doctor. We will reply to your message within one hour. The average reply time, however, is approximately 15 minutes.
The doctor will ask you more detailed questions in order to determine your overall condition. If necessary, the doctor may ask you to send pictures to support their diagnosis and to plan the treatment instructions. Digital Clinic doctors will always assess whether their patients require a physical examination and refer them to a personal appointment, if necessary. Digital Clinic appointments are free of charge if our doctors are unable to provide treatment instructions remotely.

Yes! Digital Clinic is an excellent tool for treating the symptoms of children as it does not require travelling with a sick child. Remote appointments can be used to treat children that do not require a physical examination. Such conditions may include, for example, cold symptoms, eye infections, rash and insect bites and stings.
When you start a chat with a doctor, select the name of your child from the menu. If your child is not available in the menu, click or tap Add a Family Member and enter the child’s personal identity code. If your child is under 12, you may start a Digital Clinic without selecting them. In order to add a family member aged 12–17 (and to access Digital Clinic on their behalf), you need to fill in a consent form at a Mehiläinen clinic together with the minor. The identities of the adult and the child are verified at the clinic and both parties need to sign the consent form. The consent is valid until the child reaches the age of 18. Visiting a Mehiläinen clinic for identification purposes is required by law when the child reaches the ages of 12 and 15. Adding a newborn baby in the service is not possible. In most cases, babies can be added to the service 1–3 months after they are born.
You can re-enter the chat in the OmaMehiläinen app by opening Digital Clinic and clicking or tapping Chats and Messages in the top menu of the Digital Clinic tab. Active chats are shown on the front page of Digital Clinic.
It is safe to use Digital Clinic. Accessing the OmaMehiläinen service requires strong authentication by using online banking credentials, for example. All Digital Clinic doctors and nurses are licenced to practice by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira). All doctors need to sign in to the patient information and operating systems with their personal ID cards.
The OmaMehiläinen app does not store any information on your device. Instead, the application retrieves the information from Mehiläinen’s patient information database with a unique customer identifier.
Digital Clinic is included in most occupational health agreements. You can check your situation easily by logging in to Digital Clinic. Click or tap Occupational health appointment and the fee for the remote appointment will be charged directly from your employer. Welcome to Digital Clinic!
Doctors can issue short periods of sick leave remotely. You should check whether your employer accepts sick leave issued through Digital Clinic. According to the policies of some workplaces, employees are only required to submit a personal notice of sick leave of a few days to their employers.
All sick leave certificates will be available in the Events view of the Home page and linked to the appointment during which the sick leave was issued. The certificates will also be available at the bottom of the Occupational Health view. The Occupational Health view also includes other useful information concerning your occupational health agreement. The agreement can be printed, saved or forwarded digitally by clicking or tapping the PDF link to the A certificate under the header Sick Leave.
Prescriptions can only be renewed on therapeutic grounds. Provide a short description of the problem for which the prescription was originally issued and your current condition. Entering “I’ve run out of the medication” does not provide the doctor with adequate information for renewing your prescription. In such cases, the doctor will contact you for more information by opening a Digital Clinic chat, and the prescription renewal is subject to a Digital Clinic appointment fee of € 31.90 after Kela compensation.
If, for one reason or another, the doctor cannot renew your prescription remotely, you will be referred to a personal appointment or an appointment with your attending doctor. In such cases, using Digital Clinic is free of charge.
Remote appointments cannot be used to renew or issue central nervous system (CNS) agent prescriptions or prescriptions for other pharmaceutical substances that include the possibility of substance abuse. Digital Clinic appointments cannot be used to prescribe pharmaceutical substances with disputed therapeutic indications, such as liothyronine.
The prescription renewal service can only be used to renew prescriptions currently valid and displayed in OmaMehiläinen. If you want to renew a prescription issued by another party, you need to start a chat in the Occupational Health View or General Practitioner service. A doctor will assess the need for issuing a prescription in the chat. If you pay the costs of the appointment yourself, the price of the service is € 31.90 after Kela compensation.
The fees for a remote appointment with a general practitioner and a nurse’s assessment of the need for treatment are € 31.90 after Kela compensation and € 12, respectively. The fee includes the chat and issuing any possible electronic prescriptions. The invoice for occupational health customers’ appointments will be sent directly to the employer, which means that the appointment is free of charge for you.
The fee for renewing prescriptions through Digital Clinic is € 28. The fee includes 1–2 prescriptions. The invoice for occupational health customers’ prescription renewals will be sent directly to the employer, which means that the renewal is free of charge for you. All prescriptions are renewed within 24 hours and delivered electronically.
The doctoral services of Digital Clinic are covered by the KELA reimbursement scheme. Remote appointments with doctors are also more affordable than booking a personal appointment.
The invoice for occupational health customers’ appointments will be sent directly to the employer, which means that the appointment is free of charge for you. If you pay for the appointment yourself, your payment card information is requested when you use the services for the first time. Afterwards, you can start a chat without entering this information and the fees will be charged from the card entered in the My Information tab. You will be sent a receipt by e-mail when the fee has been charged. You can check your e-mail address in the My Information tab of OmaMehiläinen. If the e-mail address field is empty, enter your e-mail address to receive receipts. Please contact our customer service if your e-mail address in OmaMehiläinen is no longer your current e-mail address and the receipt has been sent to your old address.
Digital Clinic can be used to treat various symptoms. If the symptoms are clearly caused by different conditions (e.g. eye symptoms and back pain), the doctor is entitled to charge a fee for more than one appointment.
Most medical expense insurance covers remote services. Check the terms and conditions of your insurance agreement. Before starting a Digital Clinic appointment, fill in the information of your insurance company in the My Information section of OmaMehiläinen. (OmaMehiläinen > More > My Information > Insurance Company). As a client of If’s health insurance, you only pay a possible deductible for a remote doctor’s appointment, and Mehiläinen will apply for reimbursements directly from the insurance company (remember to enter If as your insurance company in the My Information section before starting an appointment). If you are a client of LocalTapiola, select the TerveysHelppi service in Digital Clinic. If you have acquired insurance from another insurance company, you may apply for reimbursement for the Digital Clinic appointment from your insurance company after the appointment. The receipt for the Digital Clinic appointment will be sent to the e-mail address in the My Information section.
