Alko and Mehiläinen have been partners for over 25 years
When the employees are healthy, the customer also receives good service
Founded in 1932, Alko is a state-owned company that is soon approaching its 100th anniversary. The company employs more than 2,300 people, whose work revolves around selling alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic products to customers.
Alko operates in the customer service sector, so the well-being of the personnel has a direct impact on the customer experience. When the employees are healthy, the customer also receives good service. For this reason, Alko invests heavily in occupational well-being through training, management and occupational health care cooperation.
Alko and Mehiläinen have been partners for over 25 years. The cooperation has been based on Mehiläinen’s excellent understanding of Alko’s work tasks and stress factors. This has enabled effective prevention and quick access to treatment, which is vital in the service sector.
The cooperation has resulted in concrete development measures, such as ergonomic and adjustable checkout counters. These solutions have been developed together with Mehiläinen’s physiotherapists. Similarly, the shelving and unloading processes have been examined from the perspective of ergonomics and physical workload.
Mehiläinen’s extensive clinic network and digital services, such as remote doctor’s appointments, have enabled efficient service even at long distances. The role of digitality is expected to continue to grow in the future.
“Feedback and satisfaction are measured on a local, regional and strategic level, which helps us to further develop our cooperation. Our employees are satisfied with Mehiläinen’s services: according to the latest survey, the NPS figure was around 86, which is really good,” says Alko’s Business Director Kari Pennanen.
