Mehiläinen's services include vaccination counselling as well as the administration of various vaccines. Many of our locations have a travel physician whose appointment provides you with current information and a personalised vaccination programme taking into account the requirements of your travel destination.
If you are pregnant, allergic to a medicinal product, for example, or taking specific medication, an assessment performed by a physician regarding vaccination may be required. When coming to the appointment, it is advisable to bring information on previously received vaccinations.
You can easily view the vaccinations administered at Mehiläinen and the validity of your vaccinations in OmaMehiläinen.
Book an appointment well in advance before your trip, preferably no later than 1–2 months before departure. In addition, please bring details of the vaccinations you have received previously and information regarding your planned trip.
Vaccinations are administered by nurses, public health nurses and some physicians. If you know which vaccinations you need, you can book an appointment directly with a nurse. Most of our locations vaccinate both children and adults, and some also without an appointment. You can book an appointment for vaccination through our online booking. If you cannot find the vaccination you need or would like more information, please contact our customer service by calling tel. 010 414 00 (local network rate/mobile charge) and ask for more information.
If necessary, the nurse can also provide instructions on over the counter drugs and first aid supplies to take with you on your trip.
If your trip is work-related, check with your employer whether vaccinations and any other possible medications are covered by your occupational health care agreement. In these matters, you can also contact our customer service, for example by phone at 010 414 00 (local network charge/mobile charge).

Your travel destination, the nature and duration of your trip, and your own health status affect the required vaccinations. In addition to the vaccinations in the national vaccination programme, the most common travel vaccines include, for example, the hepatitis A and/or B vaccine, yellow fever vaccine, meningococcal vaccine, Japanese encephalitis vaccine, and tick-borne encephalitis vaccine. Other vaccinations may also be needed.
Book an appointment with a travel health physician to receive an individual vaccination programme and other instructions for your trip.
Vaccination recommendations and schedules vary depending on the vaccination. Some vaccinations require multiple doses, and developing their full protection takes time. Usually, it is good to start vaccinations at the latest 1–2 months before the trip, but in some cases even 3–6 months in advance.
Book an appointment with a travel physician, even if the trip is already closer. We can often arrange at least some of the required vaccinations in time.
You can book an appointment with a travel physician through our online booking or by contacting our customer service.
If you already know which vaccination you need, you can book an appointment for the selected vaccination through our online booking. If you cannot find the vaccination you need in our online booking or need multiple vaccinations, contact our customer service at tel. 010 414 00 (*pvm/mpm) and ask for more information.
Primary diseases, such as diabetes, heart diseases or conditions that weaken the immune system, as well as pregnancy or breastfeeding can affect vaccination recommendations and schedules. It is very important to tell a travel doctor about these matters so that our specialist can evaluate your situation and give you safe and individual recommendations. For example, some vaccines are not recommended for pregnant women or people with immune deficiency, in which case other means of protection will be considered.
A nurse can advise on vaccinations, administer a vaccine for which you have a prescription or which you have purchased yourself, and issue a vaccination certificate for your trip. A nurse can also advise on questions regarding over-the-counter medicines and first-aid supplies to take with you on your trip.
A travel medicine physician can advise on vaccinations and provide comprehensive health advice for your trip, as well as prescribe the needed prescriptions and certificates for your trip. An assessment performed by a physician may also be needed in special circumstances related to vaccinations, such as in connection with pregnancy, immune deficiency, or a significant primary disease.
