I am a specialist in Sports and Exercise Medicine, treating athletes and physically active individuals of all ages from recreational exercisers to elite athletes. I have a strong understanding of the physical demands that sport and exercise place on the body, particularly in relation to injury treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery.
My main areas of expertise include overuse and sports injuries, respiratory symptoms related to exercise, and training overload. I also work with young athletes experiencing issues such as back pain or decreased performance. In cases of complex overload or long-standing symptoms, I recommend booking an extended appointment to allow for a thorough evaluation.
I have extensive experience as a sports physician both in clinical settings and on the field. I served for 15 years as Team Doctor for the Finnish Women’s National Football Team (Helmarit) and have also worked as a Team Doctor in ice hockey.
In addition, I perform medical screenings for athletes and design individualized exercise-based treatment plans, including for patients whose physical activity is limited by medical conditions.
I also have special expertise in nutrition, eating-related challenges, and weight management across different age groups. I approach these topics individually and always based on scientific evidence, whether the patient is physically active or not.
I also welcome patients in a general practitioner role. I have broad clinical experience in both primary and specialized care, including pulmonology, clinical physiology, surgery, and pediatrics. I have worked in emergency care throughout my medical career, and acute illnesses and injuries are therefore well within my scope of practice.
My practice offers a warm and confidential atmosphere, where both young athletes and more experienced sports persons are welcome.
