I provide physiotherapy appointments at Mehiläinen’s Turku Neo and Kaarina locations.
I also offer initial appointments in occupational physiotherapy.
I graduated as a physiotherapist in 2007. I have extensive experience in the rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions, particularly involving the pelvis and lower back, pelvic floor, core, neck, shoulder girdle and upper limbs.
You are welcome to my practice regardless of your age, gender or sporting background. Thanks to my background as a professional dancer, I am also familiar with sport- and activity-specific training in dance.
In rehabilitation, I combine therapeutic exercise and manual techniques with Pilates exercises and Spiral Stabilization (SPS instructor and Pilates instructor), when appropriate.
Since 2015, I have specialised in pelvic floor physiotherapy and maternity physiotherapy. In pelvic floor physiotherapy, I treat both male and female clients.
My particular areas of interest include:
- Diastasis recti
- Dysfunction of the core muscles
- Muscular imbalance affecting mobility, strength and posture
- Lower back pain
- Pain in the pelvic region and coccyx
- Disc-related back problems
- Scoliosis
- Pelvic floor dysfunction, such as urinary and faecal incontinence, vulvodynia and pelvic organ prolapse
- Scar treatment
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is always planned according to the client’s wishes and individual needs. It is important to find the right combination of exercises for your specific condition, taking your overall situation and fitness background into account. When needed, I use manual techniques, ultrasound examination, EMG testing and biofeedback training.
Maternity physiotherapy
During pregnancy, I can help with:
- Support and guidance for safe exercise during the different stages of pregnancy
- The prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal pain, such as pelvic girdle pain and pain in the pelvic region or back
- Preparing the body and pelvic floor for childbirth
After childbirth, I can help with:
- Information and support for postpartum recovery, including assessment and rehabilitation of the pelvic floor, posture and muscular balance
- Rehabilitation of diastasis recti, including assessment and measurement manually and with an ultrasound device
- Treatment of Caesarean section and episiotomy scars
- Pain management
- Resuming exercise safely, with individual exercises tailored to your fitness level
You may attend with or without a doctor’s referral. If you have a physiotherapy referral, please bring it with you. Please wear flexible, comfortable clothing.
Recommendation
For an initial pelvic floor physiotherapy or maternity physiotherapy appointment, I recommend booking a 75-minute appointment. Appointments longer than 60 minutes must be booked by telephone.
For a postpartum physiotherapy assessment, I recommend booking a 90-minute appointment. Initial appointments longer than 60 minutes must be booked by telephone.
If you would like a more detailed manual examination of the pelvic floor, it is recommended that you do not have menstrual bleeding or postpartum bleeding at the time of the appointment.
Any cancellation must be made no later than the day before the appointment. A fee will be charged for appointments that are not cancelled and are not attended.
