I have worked as an orthopedic surgeon for over 20 years, and my passion is helping people return to an active life – whether it's everyday life without back pain or returning to sports. I work as an orthopedic surgeon at Mehiläinen Spine Center and as the medical director of the Uusimaa Spine Center at Mehiläinen Töölö, where I also lead the spine surgery team at Mehiläinen Helsinki Hospital.
Extensive Experience and Broad Expertise My specialized expertise focuses on lumbar spine surgery – I perform lumbar disc herniations removals, nerve root decompressions (stenoses), and spinal fusion surgeries. My surgical experience is extensive; I worked for 15 years as an on-call surgeon in the trauma unit at HYKS Töölö Hospital and hold medical educator certification. Each patient is an individual, and I always build treatment plans together based on assessment and discussion.
Sports Orthopedics at Heart Another strong area of expertise is athletes' injuries, especially lower limb injuries. I have treated athletes throughout my career, particularly basketball players and track and field athletes, as well as motorsport athletes from various disciplines. I understand what returning to sport requires, and I do everything to ensure recovery is as smooth and safe as possible.
