I am a psychotherapist specializing in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a cognitive brief therapist. I work as a self-employed practitioner at Mehiläinen. I see young people over the age of 16 and adults. I am a registered provider of Kela rehabilitation psychotherapy and offer psychotherapy supported by Kela.
New client places for Kela-supported psychotherapy will become available from January 2027 onwards. You can already arrange an introductory appointment for autumn 2026 by enquiring about individual available times. You can also book an appointment for brief psychotherapy through occupational health care or an insurance company, for an individual support or crisis session, or for a privately funded brief psychotherapy period.
As a psychotherapist, I am present, calm and empathetic. My work is based on respectful, compassionate and individual encounters. It is important to me to create an open, safe and confidential therapeutic relationship. I strive to ensure that each client feels seen and heard and is able to identify and strengthen their own resources.
In Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, we set goals together and work towards them in a structured way according to your needs and wishes. Together, we explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviour, as well as the connections between them. An important part of therapy is identifying thought and behavioural patterns underlying current challenges and finding alternative ways of responding and acting.
When appropriate, I also use body-based and mindfulness-based approaches, relaxation techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), behavioural analysis, exposure exercises, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy for trauma.
My academic and professional background includes a Master of Social Sciences, a degree in Social Work, and a Bachelor of Social Services. I have completed four years of psychotherapy training as well as two years of training in cognitive brief therapy. In addition, I have completed EMDR Level I training and will attend EMDR Level II training in November 2026, after which I will become a certified EMDR psychotherapist. In February 2027, I will begin a one-year specialist training programme in EFT Emotion-Focused Therapy.
I have more than 17 years of experience working with people of different ages, as well as with families and professional networks. I have supported clients facing extremely challenging life circumstances and sudden crises. My areas of particular expertise include relationship difficulties, crisis and trauma work, and work related to intimate partner violence.
My professional interests focus particularly on the treatment of anxiety, depression, burnout, traumatic experiences, addictions, obsessive-compulsive symptoms and various fears. I am also interested in supporting clients through life transitions and in promoting holistic wellbeing.
I currently work part-time on Fridays at Mehiläinen in Äänekoski and offer remote appointments. Available appointments in Äänekoski or remotely can be booked through the online appointment calendar, by email at minttu.lamsa@mehilainen.fi, or through Mehiläinen Customer Service at +358 10 41400.
You are warmly welcome to my practice!
