I am a compassionate and sensitive integrative psychotherapist. A psychoeducational and client-supportive approach is at the core of my practice. My practice in therapy is to help the client understand their patterns of response and recognize their symptoms, and through therapeutic interaction, to make living with trauma easier. Exploring and discovering the client’s own resources is one of the most important goals in my therapeutic work. I am experienced in issues related to sexuality and traumatic sexual experiences. I also have strong professional competence in trauma treatment.
I have enhanced my professional skills by completing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapist training and breathing instructor training. In EMDR therapy difficult, traumatic, and disturbing experiences are processed using eye movements. Traumatic memories are neutralized through controlled eye movements, making it easier to process them and live with the trauma. I utilize these methods with clients as needed. Breathing exercises can also help with anxiety.
Depending on the client’s needs, sessions may include tasks, exercises, or conversation. If desired, clients may receive homework assignments. If the client’s situation and needs change, it is possible to adapt or integrate different therapeutic approaches and perspectives. Psychoeducation and interventions as well as guidance and counseling are available. The key is to understand the challenging situations and broader context in which the client is struggling. Reflecting on cause-and-effect relationships and jointly examining and evaluating interactions in relation to the client’s situation is essential. With clients, I strive to be clear and help articulate thoughts, identify cause-and-effect relationships, and explore possibilities for change when needed. Emotions and reactions can be discussed or processed using psychophysical psychotherapy, e.g using movement to work with trauma. Drawing and writing are also possible tools if verbal expression is difficult or the issue is complex.
I have completed training in early interaction and attachment theory and have worked for about 10 years supporting early parenthood. Postpartum depression and challenges in parenting are familiar professional themes. I have also provided sexual counseling for both youth and adults, as well as support in processing experiences of violence, with a special focus on supporting guardians during a child’s or adolescent’s crisis. I offer services in Finnish, Swedish, and English.
Welcome to my practice!
