Mehiläinen Oy is strengthening its board by appointing Professor Petri Parvinen, PhD, as a new member of its board. Parvinen earned the qualification Doctor of Philosophy from the Helsinki University of Technology. He has also studied in the UK (at the London School of Economics) and Stockholm (at the Stockholm School of Economics) and served as a visiting researcher and lecturer at Stanford University.
Prof. Parvinen has extensive understanding of business life. He currently serves on the board of several companies. While possessing background in many aspects of the academic and business world, Prof. Parvinen finds that social and health-care services are especially close to his heart.
- There is a sense of mission in providing well-being to people, says Professor Parvinen.
- He has been carrying out tasks of an expert in the Finnish and international social and health-care sector since 1995. His fields of special interest include, among others, providing added value to the end customer, working on business models based on effectiveness and quality, and cultivating partnerships in the public and private sector. He has spearheaded the reform of entire industries in, for example, his current role of Professor of Sales Management at Aalto University, with this professorship being the first of its kind in Finland, according to Mikael Lilius, Chairman of the Board of Mehiläinen Oy.
- The market situation is undergoing significant change, and we must find new and better ways to serve our customers. I am very pleased to have Petri Parvinen's strong and wide-ranging experience and visionary thinking to strengthen our customer-oriented operations, Lilius concludes.
