Children’s pox diseases

Lapsi nukkuu

Children’s pox diseases often show up with fever and different skin symptoms. Pox diseases are caused by viruses, except for scarlet fever. Due to an extensive vaccination program, the traditional pox diseases have almost fully been removed from Finland. Pox diseases usually get better on their own and going to the doctor is usually not needed. Pox diseases don’t cause sequalae.

The most common pox diseases, that occur on children are chickenpox, scarlet fever, roseola, hand, foot and mouth disease and fifth disease. Measles are however rare in Finland.
